Biden administration was unaware of specific UAE warning to Israel — Jerusalem Post
The administration of former US President Joe Biden was not informed about a specific warning from the United Arab Emirates to Israel regarding a possible large-scale Hamas attack before the October 7 attack. Two sources familiar with the details told The Jerusalem Post.
According to them, Biden administration officials had not heard of such a specific warning even after the attack. At the same time, the lack of information in Washington does not mean that the UAE did not convey messages to the Israeli leadership.
Report about conversation with Netanyahu
The sources' statements came after a Haaretz report, which claimed that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for about 45 minutes more than a week before the attack.
According to Haaretz, during this conversation, the UAE president allegedly said that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was preparing a “big move” against Israel. He also expressed concern that this could cause bloodshed, destabilize the region, and endanger the Abraham Accords.

Warning about regional stability
The report also claimed that then-CIA Director William Burns heard from Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan about an attempt to convey to Netanyahu a message that “something is about to explode” in the region. The Jerusalem Post sources noted that Biden administration officials were unaware of a specific warning of this nature.
At the same time, before the attack, the UAE warned senior US and Israeli officials that Israel's actions and rhetoric were jeopardizing regional stability. In March 2023, UAE presidential adviser Khaldoon Al Mubarak, during a visit to Israel, told Israeli officials that the government's course of action contradicted the spirit of the Abraham Accords.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that since October 7, the country's activities have been aimed at de-escalation, regional stability, and preventing violence. The ministry also reported open direct communication channels between the UAE and Israel and the exchange of relevant intelligence as needed.
