The airports in Rzeszów and Lublin have suspended operations for the third day in a row due to attacks by the Russian Federation
As of September 18, the airports in Rzeszów and Lublin, Poland, have been suspended for the third consecutive day amid Russian attacks on Ukraine. The restrictions are due to heightened security measures in response to Russian airstrikes.
Amid Russian attacks on Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces scrambled fighter jets, and two Polish airports suspended operations.
“The airports in Lublin and Rzeszów have suspended air traffic,” according to a statement from the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) in Kraków.
At approximately 8:45 a.m. local time, the agency reported that the airports had resumed operations.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that on the afternoon of September 17, a Russian attack drone crashed near the Polish border in the Volyn region.
Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryshevsky, a spokesperson for the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, said that a drone most likely crashed or was shot down 4 km from the Polish-Ukrainian border.
On the same day, it was reported that airports in Lublin and Rzeszów had suspended operations.
