Aliyev praises Trump and highlights lasting peace in Azerbaijan
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, announced that the country has been living in peace for several months following the political end of the Azerbaijani-Armenian war in 2025, while expressing praise for the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Aliyev stated that relations with the administrations of Joe Biden and Barack Obama did not meet the desired level, whereas the Trump administration was pragmatic and professional, with a deep understanding of America’s national interests. He also noted that if Biden’s administration had remained in power, Azerbaijan would not have fulfilled any of their requests.
The president emphasized that living in peace is a new and important experience for the Azerbaijani people, as the country has been in a state of war for many years, starting from its independence.
