Aliyev says cooperation with Türkiye strengthens stability — Anadolu Agency
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, at a meeting with representatives of the security agencies of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States in Baku, said that the joint activities of Azerbaijan and Türkiye strengthen stability in the region and beyond. As Anadolu Agency reports, he described relations between the two countries as special and important.
The Baku-Ankara alliance
According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan and Türkiye are closely connected by historical and cultural ties, as well as people-to-people contacts. He said that relations between the two states are an important factor for the region and the wider world, especially amid a difficult geopolitical situation.
Aliyev called the Shusha Declaration, signed with Ankara in 2021, the highest point in relations between the two countries. According to him, the document formalized the allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The declaration was signed by Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the Turkish leader's two-day visit to Azerbaijan.

The role of the Organization of Turkic States
The Azerbaijani president also said that the leaders of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States seek to strengthen its role and position in the international arena. He noted that the organization's countries have significant potential and are located across a vast geographical area through which important energy and transport routes pass.
In Aliyev's view, energy security and transport cooperation are important components of overall security. He also linked the development of the states of the Organization of Turkic States with stability, peace, political and economic security, and said that these countries are demonstrating economic growth.
The Organization of Turkic States was founded in 2009 and received its current name at the 2021 Istanbul Summit. Its members are Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Turkmenistan, Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have observer status.
