The Czech Prime Minister expressed support for Ukraine at the Prague Defense Summit
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš expressed his support for Ukraine during a speech at the Prague Defense Summit. The Czech Prime Minister agreed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s view that ballistic missiles pose the greatest threat to European security, requiring the development of a joint European system to counter them.
The Czech Prime Minister emphasized his support for the Ukrainian people and condemned the aggressor’s actions. According to him, the Czech Republic has accepted the largest number of refugees per capita and also provides insurance coverage for children and pensioners.
Babiš noted: “It is obvious that Putin is the aggressor. The Russian leader has done something unacceptable.”
He also added: “We support Ukraine: we have the highest number of refugees per capita, and we pay for insurance for children and pensioners. We are happy to have Ukrainians here.”

Earlier, Babiš stated that the Czech Republic would not block NATO’s decision to provide Ukraine with military aid totaling 70 billion euros annually in 2026–2027, but would not participate in the new funding itself.
The Czech government has decided to strengthen support for national companies that work with Ukraine or operate within its territory. According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, the capital of a special fund to support Czech businesses will increase from 639 million to 1 billion Czech korunas (approximately 2.11 billion hryvnias).
