The AMCU expects fuel retailers to lower fuel prices in Ukraine

There are opportunities in Ukraine to review and reduce fuel prices at gas stations. Pavlo Kyrylenko, chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, made this statement during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission.

The head of the agency confirmed that regular Russian shelling of civilian infrastructure, particularly gas stations in frontline regions, significantly increases the logistical and operational costs of fuel companies, as the restoration of each destroyed station requires significant capital investment.

However, according to the AMCU’s estimates, even under such conditions, large chains have the financial capacity to lower retail prices for consumers. During sector-specific meetings with business representatives, the Committee conducted a detailed analysis of regional pricing mechanisms. Oil traders attribute price differences—even within a single chain—primarily to delivery costs and the distance over which petroleum products are transported to a specific gas station, but the overall potential for lowering fuel prices on the market remains relevant.
