APRA receives Africa PR Legacy Award in Côte d’Ivoire — Premium Times Nigeria
The African Public Relations Association (APRA) received the Africa PR Legacy Award at the ASCOM Communication Summit and Awards, held on September 17, 2026, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. As Premium Times Nigeria reports, APRA became the first organization to receive this award.
Recognition for 50 years of work
APRA was nominated by a Paris-based communications company specializing in African communication systems and landscapes. The jury recognized the association’s 50 years of activity and its long-term work toward professional unity, standardization, cooperation, and continuous dialogue among public relations professionals in Africa.
ASCOM stated that APRA has built a continental professional association represented across Africa and has consistently brought together professionals to discuss the current state and future of the industry.

Statements at the summit
ASCOM CEO Michel Russell Lohoré noted APRA’s long-standing role in strengthening cooperation among professionals from different African countries. He also mentioned the promotion of responsible public relations practice and strategic communications as important components of Africa’s development.
Upon receiving the award, an APRA representative expressed gratitude to ASCOM, the jury, and the nominators. The award was described as confirmation of the association’s contribution to the development of the profession and its continued commitment to professional cooperation, knowledge exchange, and ethical practice in public relations across the continent.
