Nigeria’s chambers association backs Mbah’s plan — Premium Times Nigeria
In Nigeria, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has offered the Enugu State government cooperation in implementing a plan to increase the state’s economy from an estimated $4.4 billion in 2023 to $30 billion by 2031. Association President Jani Ibrahim made the offer during a meeting with State Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
Business proposals
Ibrahim positively assessed the Mbah administration’s efforts in security and in creating conditions for business operations. According to him, security is the foundation of economic growth and ranks first in NACCIMA’s STEAMS programme, which covers security, technology, education, agriculture, manufacturing and solid minerals mining.
The NACCIMA president proposed holding joint trade fairs and investment summits, improving land allocation procedures, developing industrial parks through public-private partnerships, and strengthening interaction between the state government and chambers of commerce and industry.
According to Ibrahim, NACCIMA is working with partners in Frankfurt to provide industrialists and manufacturers with access to financing of up to $10 million for seven and a half years at single-digit interest rates. The association also expressed interest in promoting Nsukka yellow pepper as an export commodity and creating the Renewed Hope NACCIMA Village project in Enugu. Enugu is among six states being considered for the implementation of this initiative.

Governor’s statements
Mbah stated that his administration’s strategy relies on private capital, while the government must create favourable conditions and reduce investment risks where necessary. According to him, the administration abolished the sit-at-home regime within three months of his taking office.
The governor said that the state had created a Safe City video surveillance system with a command and control centre, as well as an emergency response team with vehicles equipped with AI-based cameras. He linked the improvement in the security situation to investments and partnerships involving United Palm Products, Sunrise Flour Mill, Nigergas Limited, Hotel Presidential and Landmark Nike Lake Resort.
Mbah also mentioned the Enugu Haier plant and a tractor assembly enterprise, for which the government, he said, provided guarantees and procurement commitments. He stated that the state seeks to attract three million tourists annually, has already launched Enugu Air, and is working to commission the international wing of Akanu Ibiam Airport. Among other projects, the governor named the development of tourist sites, the Smart Schools programme with more than 7,000 classrooms, and Enugu International Hospital.
