Houthi attacks in Marib have claimed at least 10 lives
At least 10 people were killed in Houthi attacks in Yemen’s Marib province. According to France 24, citing a military source and the health minister of the Saudi-backed government, the dead include eight government troops and at least two civilians.
A military source told AFP that 12 government forces personnel were also wounded during the attacks. Health Minister Qasim Bukhaibeh stated that the Houthis shelled residential neighborhoods and camps for displaced persons in the city of Marib. According to preliminary data, two civilians were killed, and another 14 people sustained injuries of varying severity.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sari claimed that a strike had been carried out on the Sahn al-Jinn military camp, which is controlled by government forces. According to him, a large number of missiles and drones were used during the attack. A military source also told AFP that the Houthis launched more than 10 missiles and seven kamikaze drones at military camps in the province.

A source close to the Saudi military stated that the coalition led by Saudi Arabia, which has been supporting the Yemeni government since 2015, will not stand idly by as the attacks intensify. The source called Marib a “red line” and stated that the coalition will not allow the balance of power on the ground to shift. According to this source, the Houthis may be preparing an offensive in the province.
The day before, according to a military source, Houthi missile and drone strikes killed at least 58 government troops, mostly in Marib. The province is of strategic importance due to its oil fields and infrastructure. Its territory is controlled by both the Houthis and the Yemeni government, which holds the city of Marib and the oil facilities.
