The Baltic countries have stated that Europe will not resume relations with Russia — Bloomberg

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have warned their European partners that restoring pre-war relations with Russia is unrealistic and dangerous.

Bloomberg reports this.

The leaders of the Baltic states emphasize that following the full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Europe must finally abandon any illusions about cooperation with the Kremlin. According to them, Moscow continues to pursue an aggressive policy and shows no signs of changing course.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that even if the war ends, Russia will remain a threat, and a quick peace does not seem realistic.

The Baltic states also emphasize that Europe is increasingly aware of the need to intensify pressure on Russia and has no intention of returning to the previous model of relations.

Since the start of the full-scale war, these states have become key drivers of the EU’s sanctions policy against Russia.

In recent years, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have undergone a major economic restructuring—they have abandoned Russian energy sources, changed their logistics routes, and reoriented their trade toward European markets.

As a result, trade volume with Russia is projected to decrease by 91% between 2021 and 2025.

Lithuania’s prime minister has set a condition for dialogue with Belarus.
