Romania summoned the Russian ambassador over a drone crash near Galați

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador over an incident involving a drone crash near the city of Galați.

The ministry noted that the drone was used to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and violated Romanian airspace.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Russia’s actions are irresponsible and provocative, and also pose a threat to public safety.

The Romanian side stressed that the incident constitutes a violation of international law and is yet another example of Russia’s aggressive policy.

During the Russian strike on the Odesa region on April 25, Russian drones were moving along the border with Romania. British aircraft patrolling Romanian airspace tracked their routes. Later, drone debris was found in border areas of Romania.

It later emerged that the drone that crashed in Galați was carrying an explosive payload. People were evacuated from the surrounding area, and as a precautionary measure, gas supply was cut off on 20 streets, according to Digi24.

As a reminder, during Russia’s massive nighttime attack on April 25, Ukrainian air defenses were able to destroy over 90% of aerial targets, including drones and missiles.
