Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father was from Kenya, and his mother was American. After his parents’ divorce, the future president lived in Indonesia for a time and later returned to Hawaii, where he was raised by his grandparents.

After studying at Columbia University, Obama earned his law degree at Harvard, where he became the first African American to serve as president of the Harvard Law Review. He later worked as a lawyer, taught law, and began his political career in the state of Illinois.

In 2004, Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, and just four years later, he won the presidential election. On January 20, 2009, he officially took office, becoming the first Black president in U.S. history. In 2012, he was re-elected to a second term, which ended in 2017.

In 2009, Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize. He is also the author of the books *Dreams from My Father* and *The Audacity of Hope*, both of which became international bestsellers.

In 2026, the Barack Obama Presidential Center opened in Chicago—a museum and educational complex dedicated to his presidency. Former U.S. presidents, politicians, and other prominent guests attended the opening ceremony.
