Belgium to purchase €700 million worth of air-to-ground missiles for the F-35

Belgium plans to purchase Norwegian-made cruise missiles for its new F-35 fighter jets at a cost of approximately 700 million euros.

This was reported by Belga News.

The missiles in question are the AGM-184 JSM, developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg in collaboration with the American firm Raytheon. These weapons are capable of striking ground and sea targets at a range of up to 350 km.

The missiles can be stored inside the F-35 without compromising its stealth capabilities, thereby reducing the risk of detection by enemy radars.

The Belgian Ministry of Defense did not specify exactly how many missiles they plan to purchase.

In the future, these missiles are also planned for use on SkyGuardian military drones. Additionally, the Belgian Army has ordered 16 British Brimstone missiles and 120 American Hellfire missiles for combat drones.

The German government has updated the list of weapons provided to Ukraine. It indicates that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have additionally received Gepard anti-aircraft systems, air defense missiles, drones, and ammunition.

Earlier, Sweden decided to allocate a $683 million military aid package to Ukraine. This was the 15th aid package and, at the time, a record for the country.
