Berlin has decided to make a major investment in the defense contractor KNDS — Tagesschau
Following lengthy internal discussions, the German government has officially decided to allocate significant investments to the Franco-German defense conglomerate KNDS.
This was reported by the German publication Tagesschau and a number of leading news agencies, citing their own informed sources within German government circles.
Tom Enders, Chairman of the KNDS Supervisory Board, has already officially confirmed this information and welcomed Berlin’s decision.
According to the published data, in the initial phase, the German side plans to acquire a 40% stake in the company, which could take place before the start of this summer.
Subsequently, over the next two to three years, this ownership stake is expected to decrease to 30%. France also intends to reduce its financial stake in the defense conglomerate in a similar manner.
Despite the upcoming changes in the ownership structure, the strategic distribution of “voting rights” between the two countries will remain exactly the same.
