A $9.1 million yacht sank off the coast of Sardinia four days after being delivered to its owner
Near the resort town of Porto Cervo on the Italian island of Sardinia, the luxury yacht Angiola II, valued at $9.1 million, sank. This occurred four days after the vessel was handed over to its new owner, according to NDTV World.
There were 14 guests and crew members on board the 98-foot yacht. According to the publication, a fire broke out on the vessel following an engine malfunction. After the fire started, the yacht began taking on water, listed to one side, and sank. Video footage from the scene shows the vessel gradually disappearing beneath the water.
All 14 people were rescued, and there were no injuries. Most of the people were picked up by a nearby vessel. The yacht’s owner, whom the media identifies as an Italian businessman, reportedly was the last to leave the vessel. Italian authorities later transported the survivors to shore.

The yacht sank in the waters between the island of Isola dei Cappuccini and Cape Capo Ferro on the Costa Smeralda. The vessel was found at a depth of about seven meters. Following the rescue operation, the partially submerged yacht was secured to the seabed. Officials reported that there were no visible signs of fuel leaking from the vessel.
The Angiola II is an Amer F100 model yacht built by the Italian company Permare in 2020. It can accommodate up to ten guests in five cabins and has space for five crew members. The four-engine yacht is capable of speeds up to 28 knots, or approximately 52 km/h.
The Italian Coast Guard is investigating the causes of the engine failure, the fire, and the subsequent sinking. Authorities are also preparing to deploy a 220-metric-ton pontoon to salvage the yacht.
