The White House has rejected Iran's latest proposal to end the war – Axios
Iran has presented the U.S. with an updated proposal for a ceasefire agreement, but the White House believes it does not represent a significant step forward and is insufficient for reaching a final agreement.
This is reported by the American publication Axios. U.S. officials note that President Trump wants a deal but is considering the possibility of resuming hostilities because Tehran has rejected many of his demands and refused to make significant concessions regarding its nuclear program.
The U.S. side emphasizes that the Iranian counterproposal, which was conveyed through Pakistani intermediaries, contains only symbolic improvements compared to the previous version. Currently, Russia and other interested parties are monitoring the situation while Washington and Tehran engage in indirect talks, attempting to reach a consensus on the format of further dialogue. It is expected that on Tuesday, Trump will convene his national security team in the Situation Room to discuss military options, as if Tehran’s position remains unchanged, the U.S. will have to continue negotiations “with bombs.”
Through diplomatic intermediaries from Pakistan, official Tehran has conveyed to the United States a revised proposal for resolving the military conflict in the Middle East. A Pakistani source in government circles confirmed the delivery of the document, emphasizing the critical lack of time for decision-making and the constantly changing conditions imposed by both sides of the process.
The U.S. has demanded that Iran hand over enriched uranium. However, the United States may make new concessions to Iran during negotiations on the nuclear program and temporarily ease oil sanctions.
