Former Brazilian UFC fighter Leonardo Guimarães was deported from Russia ahead of a scheduled fight in Ingushetia. The athlete was set to face Amirkhan Guliev in the main event of the NFL 4 tournament on May 23, but his participation was canceled following a decision by Russian immigration authorities.
This was reported by Russian media.
“Due to the deportation of Brazilian fighter Leonardo Guimaraes, the fight against Amirkhan Guliev has been removed from the tournament. Consequently, the NFL 4 tournament will be headlined by the fight between Sulim Bisultanov and Artem Rofal,” the league’s press service quoted NFL President Gilani Kalimatov as saying.
The league claims that 44-year-old Guimaraes did not inform the organizers of his deportation from the country until the very last moment and failed to fulfill his contractual obligations.
Guimaraes has a record of 15 wins, 14 losses, one draw, and one fight ruled a no-contest. He previously competed in the UFC.
Trump will personally selectthe participants for the UFC tournament at the White House.
