The Guardian reported this, citing Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar.
According to Magyar, the incident occurred on Friday in the city of Tiszaújváros in northern Hungary.
It is noted that the country’s Minister of Energy, István Kapitány, along with MOL CEO Zsolt Hernádi, traveled to the site of the incident.
The Hungarian media outlet 444.hu published several photos from the scene following reports of the explosion, showing plumes of black smoke rising above the plant.
