UK Politician Admits Taking Bribes for Pro-Russia Statements in European Parliament

British politician Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform U.K. in Wales and a member of the European Parliament, admitted to taking bribes for delivering pro-Russian statements and organizing events in favor of Viktor Medvedchuk’s circle in 2018–2019. Prosecutors said he accepted money at least eight times from Ukrainian politician Oleg Voloshyn, who gave him instructions via WhatsApp.

Investigations revealed that Gill delivered speeches in the European Parliament based on scripts promoting pro-Russian narratives on Crimea, Donbas, and the Ukrainian government. He also helped organize Medvedchuk’s “peace plan” presentations in Brussels and appeared on Ukraine’s pro-Russian TV channel “112,” acting on political orders.

The case is seen as part of a broader pro-Russian influence network in the UK, involving espionage groups and disinformation campaigns. Gill is currently out on bail and will be sentenced in November. Prosecutors emphasize that his actions directly served Kremlin interests.
