A British soldier was killed during military exercises in Iraq
The British Ministry of Defense has reported the death of a British soldier during training exercises in northern Iraq.
According to the ministry, the incident occurred on Sunday, May 31, during the exercises.
“The family of the deceased has been informed and has asked for time to reflect before releasing further details. At this sad time, we extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the UK Ministry of Defense stated.
The soldier’s name and the circumstances of the incident are not being disclosed at this time.
The UK Ministry of Defense stated that last month, Russian fighter jets intercepted a Royal Air Force reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea on several occasions. The ministry noted that the incidents occurred while the aircraft was conducting reconnaissance missions in the region.
Britain turned back a German MEP at the border.
