The Czech Republic is capping fuel prices due to rising costs
The Czech government is introducing new measures to curb fuel prices.
This was announced by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.
Specifically, the maximum price for fuel will be set daily at the government level.
A maximum markup for distributors is also being set—no more than 2.5 Czech korunas.
In addition, the excise tax on diesel will be reduced by 2.35 korunas.
The new rules are set to take effect on April 8.
The government also plans to pass a law that will allow for the regulation of fuel prices on a permanent basis.
The decision was made amid rising energy prices due to the situation in the Middle East.
