In Canada, politicians celebrated Vyshyvanka Day in Parliament

In Canada, politicians, senators, and parliamentary staff donned vyshyvankas and publicly congratulated Ukrainians on Vyshyvanka Day. Even Prime Minister Mark Carney joined the event, expressing his support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian community. The event at Parliament became a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine.

Events marking Vyshyvanka Day were held in the Canadian Parliament building, during which Canadian MPs, senators, and staff members wore traditional Ukrainian clothing. Prime Minister Mark Carney also joined the celebration, publicly congratulating Ukrainians.

In his address, he emphasized support for Ukraine and unity with the Ukrainian community. “Ukraine’s struggle is our struggle, their cause is our cause, and their independence will be our victory. To Ukrainian communities in Canada and around the world celebrating their culture, identity, and traditions on this Vyshyvanka Day: Canada stands with you,” Carney wrote on social media.

Other members of Parliament also joined the initiative by wearing vyshyvankas and taking group photos with the flags of Ukraine and Canada. The photos were widely shared on social media along with holiday greetings.

The organizers noted that the event took place right within the walls of the Canadian Parliament and served as a gesture of support for Ukraine and Ukrainians living in the country. The event once again underscored that Vyshyvanka Day unites not only Ukrainians but also international partners who support Ukrainian culture and identity.

Staff members of the Danish diplomatic mission in Ukraine creatively joined in the celebration of World Vyshyvanka Day by staging a festive performance.
