The editorial board drew attention to speeches by world leaders on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. According to the outlet, French President Emmanuel Macron said that events in Gaza should shame the international community and also pointed to the grave situation in the West Bank.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described Gaza as an inhumane concentration camp. At a separate meeting on a two-state settlement, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar criticized Israel's mechanism of occupation, while UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that time for implementing a two-state solution is running out.

Funds for Gaza's reconstruction

According to Dawn, the Board of Peace pledged $2.45 billion for Gaza's reconstruction at a separate meeting. The editorial stressed that financial aid would not resolve Palestinians' problems without ending the blockade and occupation of the territory.

The outlet also claims that about 1,400 people, mostly civilians, have been killed since last year's ceasefire in Gaza. Dawn links the situation in the West Bank to the growing number of settlements, which it considers illegal, and settler attacks on the Arab population.

The editorial's authors called for Israel to be held accountable for its actions in Gaza, for settlers involved in attacks to be punished, and for all settlements that the outlet calls illegal to be dismantled. Dawn also criticized the United States as Israel's key external ally, saying that Washington is not putting sufficient pressure on Israeli authorities regarding the peace process.
