Knesset member Mehal Shire will not run in the next election
Mehal Shire, a Knesset member from the Yesh Atid party, said she will not submit her candidacy in the next elections to Israel’s parliament. At the same time, she expressed support for party leader Yair Lapid and stated that she would remain in Yesh Atid and support it.
Shire’s statement
In a post on social media platform X, Shire said that she had informed Lapid of her unwillingness to take part in the next Knesset elections. She also declared full confidence in Lapid and her party colleagues, emphasizing the need for “significant changes and corrections” in Israel. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post.
Changes to the party list
Shire’s statement came ahead of the presentation of Yesh Atid’s new list of candidates. On Thursday, Knesset member Karin Elharrar announced her departure from the party. Knesset members Debbie Biton and Tatiana Mazaraski also said on Wednesday that they would not run in the upcoming elections.

Meir Cohen, Miki Levy, Elazar Stern, Ron Katz, Yoav Segalovich, Orna Barbivai, Boaz Toporovsky, Yoel Razvozov, and Idan Roll had previously announced their departure from Yesh Atid. According to the publication, Stern joined Gadi Eisenkot’s party, while Segalovich joined RAAM.
Maariv poll
According to a Maariv poll published on Friday, B’Yachad, with which Yesh Atid merged at the start of the election campaign, may win 15 seats in the Knesset. Under this forecast, it would become the third-largest party by number of mandates.
