The U.S. Secretary of State has set a timeline for ending the war in Iran

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. administration expects the war in Iran to end within the coming weeks. 

Sky News reports this.

During a speech following a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in France on March 27, 2026, the official emphasized that the U.S. is already close to achieving its stated goals. Rubio also called any attempt by Iran to impose a permanent toll on ships in the Strait of Hormuz unacceptable.

Commenting on the likelihood of a ground invasion, the Secretary of State noted that the available ground forces are capable of carrying out all assigned tasks. At the same time, he emphasized his readiness to ensure the president has maximum freedom of action in the event of unforeseen circumstances. The head of the State Department confirmed that the U.S. is focused on a short-term timeline for ending the active phase of the conflict. Currently, G7 allies are discussing further steps to stabilize the region and ensure the security of strategic waterways.

As a reminder, Rubio arrived at the G7 summit in France to discuss the wars in Ukraine and Iran.
