Queensland forecasts warm weekend and hazardous sea conditions
Queensland, in northeastern Australia, is expected to see sunny and warm weather across most of the state this weekend, although rain is possible in some coastal areas. Temperatures will rise ahead of the start of September, ABC News Australia reports.
Rain to intensify on Sunday
David Crocker, a senior meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, said rainfall is forecast, including near the Sunshine Coast, K'gari Island and along the northern tropical coast. Rain may intensify on Sunday, especially along the northern coast.
An upper trough is expected over the Sunshine Coast area, bringing heavier showers. In the second half of Sunday, it is expected to move inland across the state, toward Kingaroy and Gayndah.

Forecast for Brisbane and the coast
Brisbane is forecast to have variable cloud cover and temperatures in the mid-20s. A localized brief shower is possible there on Sunday as rainfall moves through the Sunshine Coast.
Mostly dry weather is expected along the stretch of coast from Townsville to areas north of Port Douglas. At the same time, strong winds and hazardous sea conditions are forecast there. According to Crocker, a strong wind warning for the peninsula will be issued for Saturday, while winds are expected to ease in the following days.
Warming at the start of September
Hazardous sea conditions are also expected in southeastern Queensland at the start of next week, with wave heights potentially ranging from 1.5 to 2 meters. Westerly winds are expected to bring warm air from the central parts of the state to the coast. Temperatures in Brisbane and Ipswich may approach 30 degrees, although meteorologists do not rule out a brief cool spell later in September.
