More than $79,000 raised for wounded flydubai pilot — Jerusalem Post
More than $79,000 has been raised through two online campaigns for flydubai captain Smith Machchhar, who sustained a stab wound during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv and was hospitalized after an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
Two fundraising campaigns
As The Jerusalem Post reports, a GoFundMe campaign organized by Jewish Breaking News has raised more than $73,000 toward its stated goal of $130,000. Another fundraiser, organized by Tal Doorek, has received more than $6,000.
The organizers of both campaigns said the funds are intended to support the injured captain and his family. The mechanism for transferring the collected money to Machchhar is still being coordinated.

Reactions in India
Indian athletes and film industry representatives expressed support for the pilot. Cricket star Sachin Tendulkar wrote on social network X that Machchhar is a “real-life hero” and that the whole world is proud of him. Former cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina also published messages of support.
Bollywood actresses Sonam Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and Shamita Shetty also shared posts supporting the captain. At the same time, the messages do not establish whether these celebrities made donations to the online campaigns.
