Trump says Iran has virtually abandoned plans to create nuclear weapons — The Express Tribune
US President Donald Trump said that Iran had “virtually given up” plans to create nuclear weapons. He made the statement to reporters while departing the White House for a rally in Ohio, The Express Tribune reports.
Trump’s statement
Trump also said that oil prices had fallen. According to him, the current price of oil is lower than it was under the administration of Joe Biden. The US president linked the issue of Iran’s nuclear program to his administration’s goals in the war with Tehran.
The publication notes that the war has been continuing for an eighth month. Oil prices remained high for a long time after Israeli and US strikes on Iran on February 28.

Iran’s position
Iran has long denied US and Israeli accusations that it intends to develop nuclear weapons. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated this position during a visit to New York for the UN General Assembly last month.
Pezeshkian said that Tehran does not seek to obtain nuclear weapons because of a religious prohibition, and also offered to dilute its stockpiles of enriched uranium under international supervision. At the same time, Iran insists that it will not abandon its peaceful civilian nuclear program and will not make structural concessions without the United States lifting economic sanctions.
