A bus driver may have shot down the drone carrying explosives near the Antonov aircraft in Leipzig
A drone carrying explosives, which was discovered a few meters from a Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane at the Leipzig/Halle, may have ended up on the ground after being struck by a bus driver who was leading a tour of the airport grounds.
According to another version of the investigation, the driver merely found the drone already on the ground and turned it over. Airport employees spotted the device on the evening of August 5.
According to the investigation, explosives—presumably Semtex—were attached to the drone. German law enforcement officials reported that a detonation was averted only because the detonator malfunctioned; it was subsequently defused by bomb disposal experts.
Flights at the airport were temporarily suspended due to the incident. Investigators are treating the incident as a probable act of sabotage.
