Trump's friend Janez Janša is close to returning to the post of Prime Minister of Slovenia

The leader of the Slovenian Democratic Party, Janez Janša, has taken another step toward returning to the post of Prime Minister of Slovenia, where he could lead the government for the fourth time.

Politico reports this.

On Tuesday, a group of 43 lawmakers officially nominated Janša for the post of head of government following the approval of a coalition agreement between his party and several center-right political forces.

Jansa himself stated that all the necessary conditions for his nomination have been met.

A parliamentary vote on his candidacy could take place as early as Friday.

National Assembly Speaker Zoran Stevanović stated that he does not expect any surprises, as the coalition already has enough votes to approve the new prime minister.

Jansa’s return could signal a sharp shift in the country’s political course. In the March elections, the party of incumbent Prime Minister Robert Golob won 29 seats in parliament, just one seat ahead of Jansa’s party, which received 28 seats.

Janez Janša has previously led the Slovenian government three times and is known for his conservative views and closeness to Donald Trump.

In March, the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund received grant contributions from Iceland and Slovenia totaling 3.2 million euros.

Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob appealed to the President of the European Commission with an urgent request to investigate the activities of the Israeli private intelligence company Black Cube.
