Second shipment of China’s emergency aid arrives in Kathmandu
The second shipment of Chinese emergency aid for Nepal arrived in Kathmandu on September 1. A Chinese Air Force Y-20 cargo aircraft landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at around 17:30 local time, ECNS reports.
Contents of the aid
The shipment included drones, equipment and reagents for DNA testing, water purification systems, and emergency lighting equipment. According to the outlet, the cargo was assembled with priority disaster-relief needs in mind.
A handover ceremony for the aid was held at the airport. It was attended by China’s Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming, Nepal’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun, and other representatives of both sides.

Group of DNA specialists
Five Chinese DNA identification specialists arrived in Nepal together with the shipment. This is the third group of Chinese experts sent to the country to provide assistance. They are to travel to areas affected by the disaster and work with local authorities.
According to ECNS, on the seventh day after the disaster began, response priorities shifted from search, rescue, and temporary resettlement to logistics, victim identification, systematic post-disaster support, and reconstruction.
Nepal Police said on social media on September 1 that 1,068 bodies had been found in areas affected by floods and landslides. As of 17:00 local time, 4,606 people remained missing, ECNS reported, citing Xinhua.
