Two members of the Polish Sejm were punished for disrupting a session
In Poland, two members of parliament—Darius Matecki and Michal Wos—have been punished for obstructing the work of the Sejm.
This was reported by RMF24.
The decision was made by Parliament Speaker Włodzimierz Czazasty. Both politicians were stripped of half their parliamentary salaries for three months.
The punishment stems from an incident during a previous session, when the lawmakers took to the podium with posters and staged a protest that disrupted the normal course of the session.
According to public data, their monthly salary is over 13,000 zlotys, so the losses will amount to about half of this amount over three months.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk previously criticized the lawmakers’ actions and their attempts to exploit a high-profile issue for political attacks.
Poland is investigating a cyberattack on the University of Warsaw, following which data ended up on the dark web. Hundreds of thousands of files are involved, some of which contain personal information. Law enforcement officials are already determining exactly how the breach occurred.
