John Cole, the U.S. President’s Special Representative for Belarus, commented on the prisoner exchange between Poland and Moldova on one side and Russia and Belarus on the other.
According to Cole, as part of the agreements, three Polish citizens and two Moldovan citizens were successfully returned home.
He noted that the exchange was made possible through coordination with international partners and the involvement of his team.
Cole also highlighted the role of U.S. President Donald Trump, State Department officials, and support from Poland, Moldova, and Romania.
He specifically noted the Belarusian side’s willingness to cooperate with the United States in this process.
On April 28, Poland and Belarus carried out a “five-for-five” prisoner exchange.
Russian archaeologist Alexander Butyagin, who was detained in Warsaw at Ukraine’s request, was released as part of the exchange.
