Egypt to take part in Cyprus Independence Day parade for the first time — Cyprus Mail
In Cyprus, Egyptian servicemen will take part for the first time in the military parade marking the country’s Independence Day, which will be held on October 1. The Egyptian contingent is expected to march alongside the Cyprus National Guard, Cyprus Mail reports.
Defence cooperation
The participation of Egyptian military personnel will take place amid deepening defence and security cooperation between Cyprus and Egypt. Both countries reaffirmed their strategic partnership during Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides’ visit to El Alamein on Tuesday.

In April, Cyprus and Egypt agreed to strengthen cooperation in the defence sector. The agreements provide for closer ties between the armed forces, exchanges between military academies and expanded cooperation between the defence industries of the two countries.
October 1 parade
The sides also agreed to establish a joint committee to address military cooperation and common defence challenges. The October 1 parade is dedicated to Cyprus’ independence from British colonial rule. It involves servicemen of the National Guard, as well as Greek officers serving in ELDYK.
