Eurozone economy grew by 1.2% in the second quarter — Anadolu Agency
The eurozone economy grew by 1.2% year-on-year in the second quarter, exceeding market expectations of 1%. The European Union’s gross domestic product increased by 1.4% over the same period.

EU statistical office Eurostat released data on GDP dynamics in the bloc’s countries. As reported by Anadolu Agency, Malta recorded the highest annual growth rate in the second quarter at 5%. It was followed by Slovenia at 4.8% and Denmark, whose economy grew by 4.6%.

Countries with declines
At the same time, Romania’s GDP declined by 2% year-on-year, while Ireland’s fell by 0.4%.
Compared with the previous quarter, the eurozone economy grew by 0.6%, while EU GDP increased by 0.7%. Ireland showed the largest quarterly growth at 10.2%. In Slovenia, it amounted to 1.8%, and in Lithuania, 1.7%. Austria became the only EU member state where a quarterly economic decline was recorded, at 0.1%.
