Erdogan pledges to continue humanitarian aid to Bangladesh — Anadolu Agency

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in New York, United States, told Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman that Türkiye would continue providing humanitarian assistance to the country. The leaders met behind closed doors at the Turkish House, or Turkevi Center, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

Erdogan and Rahman discussed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Bangladesh, as well as regional issues, Anadolu Agency reports, citing Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications.

The Turkish president stated the need to give relations between the two countries a more institutional character. He also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the defense industry and noted that steps should be taken to increase bilateral trade.

Support for Rohingya refugees

Erdogan commended Bangladesh for hosting more than 1 million Rohingya Muslims. According to him, Türkiye will continue humanitarian support in housing, education and infrastructure.
