The EU has allocated another billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of drones

The European Commission has transferred an additional one billion euros to Ukraine to strengthen its capabilities in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. This funding is the second tranche of a 6-billion-euro targeted loan intended exclusively for the purchase of drones, and part of a broader 90-billion-euro support package for Ukraine.

The new funding complements previous financial operations by European partners. Specifically, this includes the first tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of 3.2 billion euros from June 25, as well as a payment of 3.9 billion euros for the procurement of unmanned systems, which was made on June 30.

In addition, the European Commission has already approved a plan to allocate another 10 billion euros to finance the supply of additional drones, missiles, and fighter jets, reaffirming its long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities and the integration of the European defense industry.

This new phase of defense cooperation coincided with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s eleventh visit to Kyiv. The main topics of her meetings in the Ukrainian capital were urgent measures to protect Ukraine’s airspace from regular missile and drone attacks by Russia, as well as joint initiatives to scale up the production of critically important military equipment.

The European Commission announced this on Wednesday, July 15.

The European Union plans to provide Ukraine with 920 million euros to restore and strengthen its energy infrastructure ahead of the winter season. This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy presented Ursula von der Leyen with Ukraine’s first Order of Europe.
