Trump to attend Presidents Cup as honorary chairman
US President Donald Trump said on August 29 that he will attend the Presidents Cup team golf tournament next month in Medinah near Chicago. He will perform the traditional role of honorary chairman of the competition.

Tournament history
The Presidents Cup was established in 1994 for international players from non-European countries who were not eligible to play in the better-known Ryder Cup. The tournament's name is linked to the tradition under which the head of state of the host country serves as honorary chairman.
In 2017, Trump spoke before presenting the winning trophy to the US team after the final round of the Presidents Cup at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.
