The European Parliament has voted to lift the immunity of Polish MEP Braun

The European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs voted to lift the immunity of four Polish MEPs, including Grzegorz Braun, who is known for his anti-Ukrainian statements and serves as the leader of the "Confederation of the Polish Crown" party.

This was reported by RMF24.

In addition to Braun, the committee is proposing to lift the parliamentary immunity of Daniel Obaitek, Patryk Jaki (Law and Justice party), and Tomasz Buczek (Confederation).

The final decision on the waiver of immunity will be made by the European Parliament during its next plenary session in Strasbourg.

In the case of Grzegorz Braun, the matter concerns an incident in which the politician attempted to disrupt a ceremony in Jedwabne dedicated to honoring the memory of Polish Jews.

The charges against Obajtek relate to giving false testimony. It is proposed that the immunity of MEPs Yaki and Buczek be lifted in connection with private criminal charges.

Lifting immunity does not mean that the MEP has been found guilty, but merely allows national judicial authorities to conduct an investigation or trial.

In Poland, a lawmaker was punished for a scandal involving an Israeli flag bearing a swastika.

As a reminder, Poland will not participate in the mission in the Strait of Hormuz.

Poland has refused to transfer Patriot systems to the Middle East.
