EU condemns Hezbollah after Israel’s incursion into Lebanon
The European Union has condemned the actions of Hezbollah following Israel’s large-scale incursion into Lebanese territory, ongoing since October 2023. According to ACLED data, by September 2024, Israel had conducted approximately 8,300 strikes against targets in Lebanon, including one day with over 1,300 strikes and thousands of bombs dropped.
Following a ceasefire declared in November 2024, around 700 airstrikes have continued, causing widespread destruction across Beirut’s neighborhoods. Over 700,000 people have been displaced due to the conflict. In the past week, more than twice as many children have died in Lebanon than in Israel on 7 October. Today, a Orthodox priest was killed in the hostilities.
The situation in Lebanon remains critical, with the international community closely monitoring developments and hoping for regional stabilization and relief from the humanitarian crisis.
