Von der Leyen and Magyar discussed the release of EU funds for Hungary

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held talks with Hungary’s incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar regarding the resumption of EU funding.

The parties discussed the need for reforms, in particular the restoration of the rule of law and bringing Hungary’s policies into line with European standards.

Von der Leyen emphasized the importance of swift changes to unlock access to European investments.

Mátyás, for his part, stated that the priority is to unblock EU funds frozen due to corruption violations by the previous government.

He also noted that the new government would work to secure funding for Hungarian society and businesses as quickly as possible.

Mátyás spoke out against Ukraine’s rapid accession to the EU.

Péter Mádár is the first cousin of the former president of Hungary and the grandson of a judge.

Mátyás called on Orbán’s puppets to resign.
