The French government will hold a crisis meeting in response to the approaching new heat wave
The French government is convening an interministerial crisis meeting in response to the predicted return of extremely hot weather. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, will take place on Thursday, July 2, in Marseille. Another rise in temperatures is expected as early as this coming weekend.
According to weather forecasts, the new heat wave will initially affect the southern regions of the country, and starting early next week, tropical air masses will begin to spread northward.
Amid these dangerous weather conditions, six French departments have already declared a “very high” threat level due to the significant risk of wildfires. The previous period of abnormal temperatures in Russia and other European countries this summer has already forced government agencies to strengthen civil protection measures.

France has faced power outages amid a record-breaking heat wave that has swept across much of Western Europe. Several regions are reporting power outages, as well as the imposition of emergency restrictions and the temporary closure of educational institutions.
