Ghana plans to resolve student placement issues before schools reopen — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu assured students and parents that outstanding issues with placement in senior high schools would be resolved before classes resume. He stated this during a visit to the National Resolution Centre in Accra, MyJoyOnline reports.
Review of appeals
The minister visited the centre to personally assess the difficulties arising in the student placement system ahead of schools reopening. According to him, the government seeks to ensure that no student is left outside the system, and every appeal to the centre will be considered urgently.
Iddrisu praised the work of the National Resolution Centre staff. He said that since the centre was launched, a significant number of cases have already been resolved, while work on the remaining appeals continues ahead of the new academic year.

Review of the placement system
Ghana's Ministry of Education also announced plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System. This came amid calls by the Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference to strengthen the transparency and accountability of the placement procedure.
Once the current placement process is completed, a technical working group is planned to be established to analyse the system's components and identify areas for improvement. The ministry stated that the system is primarily based on candidates' performance, and performance takes precedence over protocol in placing qualified students.
