The NATO Secretary General discussed military support for Ukraine with the Canadian Foreign Minister
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Brussels to coordinate further assistance to Ukraine. The two sides focused on issues related to building up the defense industry’s capabilities and strengthening security in the Arctic region.
This was reported by the Secretary General’s press secretary on X.
In addition to talks with Alliance leadership, Anita Anand is participating in a meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. This initiative was jointly launched by Ukraine and Canada to address humanitarian issues caused by Russia’s aggression. The Canadian minister has also scheduled meetings with the heads of foreign ministries of European Union countries.
The Canadian delegation’s visit to Brussels comes amid global instability and aims to strengthen the partnership between North America and its European allies. Discussions on support for Kyiv remain a priority for the defense diplomacy of Canada and NATO. Earlier, as part of efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense, government officials also met with a delegation from RTX regarding the supply of Patriot systems.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced the expansion of the sanctions list, adding 100 tankers from Russia’s “shadow fleet” to it.
Only Ukraine has the right to determine the terms of a just peace with Russia, and the final decision on any agreement must rest with Ukraine. This was stated by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.
