In Italy, two people have been placed in quarantine due to the hantavirus

In Italy, two young people were placed under a 45-day quarantine after a flight on which a passenger infected with the hantavirus was present. The decision was made as a precautionary measure to control the potential spread of the infection.

This was reported by ANSA.

In Italy, a 24-year-old man from Torre del Greco in the Campania region was placed in quarantine. He was flagged by Dutch health authorities because he was one of the passengers on a KLM flight from Johannesburg to Amsterdam that carried a passenger infected with hantavirus.

In addition to him, a 25-year-old Italian man from Villa San Giovanni in Calabria was placed in quarantine—he had also flown on the same flight. When Italian authorities first contacted him regarding this matter, it turned out that the young man had already begun self-isolation on his own initiative as soon as he learned of the situation from the news.

Neither of the Italians is showing symptoms. The quarantine will last for 45 days.
