Hugh Jackman expresses interest in buying a stake in Norwich

Actor Hugh Jackman has said he is interested in buying a stake in English football club Norwich. He said this in an interview with British TalkSport, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.

Jackman has long supported Norwich, as it is his mother’s hometown in eastern England. During an interview promoting the new film “The Death of Robin Hood,” the actor was asked whether he would like to buy a stake in the club.

In response, Jackman said he was very interested in discussing such an opportunity and called his statement an exclusive.

Club owners

Norwich’s controlling stake belongs to Mark Attanasio, who is also the principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club. Jackman did not disclose possible terms or a timeline for acquiring a stake.

Norwich and Wrexham are currently playing in the Championship, the second tier of English football. Ryan Reynolds bought Wrexham together with Rob Mac in 2021.

Fight for promotion

Commenting on Reynolds’ investment in Wrexham, Jackman noted that he supports the Canaries, Norwich’s nickname derived from the team’s distinctive yellow-and-green kit colours.

According to the outlet, both clubs are considered contenders for promotion to the Premier League this season. Norwich last played in England’s top division four years ago. Jackman also spoke positively about changes in the team after Belgian coach Philippe Clement was appointed in November last year.
