Incident in Leipzig
As one example of the risk of such a conflict, the BND chief mentioned an attempted drone attack in Leipzig. According to him, it involved an attempted strike on a Ukrainian cargo plane that occurred in August.
Jaeger also said that Germany had not sought confrontation, but Moscow was imposing it on Berlin and viewed it as one of its main opponents. In his assessment, this is linked to Germany's refusal to accept Russia's revisionist and expansionist policy and its war against Ukraine.
