Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Afridi speaks at rally in Shahdadkot
Sohail Afridi, the head of the government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, arrived in the Pakistani city of Shahdadkot together with leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party as part of a five-day mobilization campaign ahead of protests scheduled for September 27. A crowd welcomed the party convoy, which arrived from the Ghotki district.
As Dawn reports, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar, and PTI Sindh president Halim Adil Sheikh also spoke at the rally.
Calls for protests
Afridi said that, in his view, the response of participants at events in Shikarpur, Shahdadkot, Larkana and Naushahro Feroze indicates support for PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan among residents of Sindh’s interior regions. He called on party supporters to take part in the rallies on September 27.

The provincial government head also criticized the superintendent of Adiala prison. According to Afridi, he is not complying with court orders concerning Imran Khan’s treatment at Shifa International Hospital. He also said that three Supreme Court judges had recently issued a relevant order and that courts had previously required Khan to be transferred to this hospital.
Statements by PTI representatives
Salman Akram Raja said that Sindh residents oppose injustice and the lack of basic services. He raised the issue of access to education and other necessary services, as well as fair payment for farmers’ produce.
Halim Adil Sheikh accused the Pakistan Peoples Party of corruption and mismanagement in Sindh. He also said that 29 PTI activists had been detained without grounds in Karachi.
