Stefan Tumann, the head of the German defense company Donaustahl, which supplies combat drones to Ukraine, was likely targeted for assassination using the nerve agent “Novichok.”

"The information we have clearly shows that this was supposed to be carried out using 'Novichok.' No one else operates this way. It’s possible to figure out who was behind it, although it’s truly impossible to prove,” said Bastian Ernst, a CDU member of the Bundestag, in an RTL documentary.

According to journalists, agents were tailing the businessman to prepare for his assassination. German law enforcement officials informed Tuman of a specific threat shortly before Christmas 2025. Since then, the 39-year-old entrepreneur has been under constant protection and regularly changes his place of residence.

In an interview with RTL and Stern, Tumann stated that he “has become one of the greatest threats to Putin’s regime in Europe.”

He added that he has already drawn up a will, completed organ donation forms, and prepared advance directives in case of serious illness.

According to Tuman, Russia’s war against Ukraine has turned into a “highly personal war” for him, and he views what is happening as a “duel for my life” with Russian military intelligence.

Earlier, the German publication Die Zeit reported that Russian intelligence agencies had planned an assassination attempt on Stefan Tumann, CEO of the German drone manufacturer Donaustahl. This past spring, German police arrested two suspects—a Ukrainian national named Serhiy N. and a Romanian national named Alla S.—in Spain and North Rhine-Westphalia.

This was reported by Bild.
