Georgia has extended its assistance to Ukrainian refugees through 2026
The Georgian government has extended its support programs for Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave their homes due to the war. Financial assistance for housing and monthly payments will remain in effect until October 1, 2026. Ukrainians currently in Georgia due to the war will also continue to have access to the medical assistance program.
According to a decision by the Georgian government, Ukrainian families will continue to receive funds to cover housing costs. The housing assistance amounts to 300 Georgian lari per month per family. In addition, each person eligible for support will receive a monthly payment of 45 lari.
These payments are intended for Ukrainian citizens and individuals eligible for permanent residence in Ukraine who have arrived in Georgia due to the full-scale war. The program was created to help Ukrainians adapt after their forced relocation and to meet their basic needs while in the country.
Eligibility Requirements
The Georgian government has also clarified the rules for terminating assistance. If a person leaves the country, their monthly payment of 45 lari will be suspended starting the following month.
Additionally, the 300 lari housing allowance for a family is suspended if all its members have left Georgia. Thus, assistance will continue to be provided only to those Ukrainians who are actually in the country and in need of support.
The decision was adopted by the Georgian government
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed the corresponding decree. The Social Services Agency is responsible for administering the payments.
The Georgian government noted that the extension of the program is part of its support for Ukrainians who find themselves in a difficult situation due to the war. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, many Ukrainians have fled to neighboring and European countries, including Georgia, where they have found temporary refuge.
Medical assistance for Ukrainians has been extended
In addition to financial support, Georgia has extended its medical care program for Ukrainians. It will remain in effect until October 1, 2026, for Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Georgia between February 1, 2022, and October 1, 2026, and have been continuously residing in the country.
This means that Ukrainians will continue to receive necessary medical care under the state program. The support covers people who left Ukraine due to the hostilities and cannot return home quickly.
Assistance for Ukrainians in Georgia
After Russia’s full-scale invasion began, Georgia became one of the countries where thousands of Ukrainians sought refuge. Many of them needed temporary housing, financial support, and access to medical services.
